Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential care and assistance to individuals in need, ensuring their comfort and well-being. This role involves working closely with clients who may require support due to various conditions, including autism, and distressing behavior and assisting with daily activities in a home care setting.
Responsibilities
1. Provide personal care to clients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
2. Support clients with meal preparation and ensure they receive proper nutrition.
3. Assist with medication management and adherence to prescribed treatments.
4. Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote their mental and emotional well-being.
5. Implement behaviour management strategies for clients exhibiting challenging behaviours.
6. Perform heavy lifting as necessary to assist clients with mobility or transfers.
7. Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring hygiene standards are met.
8. Document client progress and report any changes in behaviour or condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
9. Drive clients to appointments or social outings as needed, ensuring their safety during transport.
Experience
1. Previous experience in home care or as a support worker is highly desirable.
2. Knowledge of dementia care practices is advantageous.
3. Familiarity with first aid procedures is beneficial.
4. Experience in patient care, particularly with vulnerable populations, is preferred.
5. Skills in childcare may be useful when supporting families or individuals with children.
