We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Therapeutic Radiographer to join our team in a forward-thinking radiotherapy department at Velindre Cancer Service. This post is based at our new Radiotherapy Satellite Centre at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
1. To help organise the workload in the various functions of the department and take responsibility for training and supervising more junior radiographers and students.
2. To deputise in the role of team leader in the absence of the Band 7 radiographer, as required.
3. To be part of a large multi-disciplinary team and to be involved in the total care of patients undergoing radiotherapy.
4. To work flexibly according to the demands of the service, including weekends and across more than one site.
5. To participate in out of hours and on-call working as required.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Radiography or Diploma of College of Radiographers DCR (T), or Post Graduate Diploma in Radiotherapy.
* Registration with Health Care Professions Council.
* Evidence of CPD (continuing professional development) gained through short courses or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge and understanding of principles and concepts underpinning applications and techniques used in radiotherapy.
* Knowledge and understanding of current oncology issues.
* Full knowledge of radiation regulations.
* Evidence of further study to Masters Level.

* Self-motivated.

* Significant knowledge of radiotherapy acquired by rotating through all aspects of radiotherapy involving the whole range of highly specialised and highly complex radiotherapy equipment.

* Experience of working with Varian and/or Elekta equipment.
* Quality assurance.
* Audit.
* Student assessment.
