Main duties of the job
We have an exciting opportunity for Band 5 Staff Nurse permanent contract on Damson Ward. Damson ward is a 24 bedded colorectal and general surgical ward on the Barnet site. Duties include the care and management of pre and post operative surgical patients including other specialities like ENT, Orthopaedic and Maxilo facial surgical patients.

Person specification
Education & Professional Qualifications
* First level degree in nursing or working towards
* Evidence of post-registration education/qualification relevant to specialty
Experience
* Significant post registration experience of working in an acute hospital setting
* Evidence of experience in conducting quality audits
* Experience of co-mentoring and assessing student nurses on placement
Skills and Attitudes
* Knowledge of current advances and pathways of care relevant to specialty
* Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate and influence
* Skilled in use of computer/keyboard
* Knowledge of clinical governance issues e.g. handling complaints, clinical risk management
* Ability to problem-solve, prioritise and to work to deadlines
* Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with multi professional teams
* Able to manage stressful situations and challenge decisions to ensure that patient needs are met
* Able to lead, manage and motivate others in complex problem solving and assessment skills
