The Train Service Controller plays a key part by overseeing the real time management of the GB Railfreight/Network Rail Track Access and haulage contracts, and associated contracts, such as traction and train crew hire. You will be proactive in monitoring all of GB Railfreight train services, in liaison with Network Rail and customer representatives, including investigation into time losses and arranging corrective actions to be taken. You will be in charge of the coordination of modified or emergency train plans in liaison with Network Rail and the Duty Control Manager whilst ensuring customer information is supplied frequently and in a timely manner. The Control department is a 24/7, 365 days of the year operation. You can expect to be rostered for 12-hour shifts which include days, nights, weekend and bank holiday working. Closing date: 24th March 25 Communication of plan revisions and other information throughout GB Railfreight, its customers and contractors. Liaise with the Duty Control Manager, Engineering Team or Contractor and Network Rail in the event of a train failure or defect to establish the most effective course of action to be taken to minimise disruption, in conjunction with GBRf OSM 120 “Defective On-Train Equipment”, keeping our customers informed of developments Manage and control the booking-on arrangements and real-time resourcing of all Train Managers and ground staff, including recording all reasons for plan deviation or extra hour allocation. Monitor traction resources that are in service ensuring that any deviation is fully assessed to ensure most economic use of available traction, with minimal effects on maintenance plans. Work in conjunction with all areas of the business to deliver GBRf business safely, and in the most cost effective way. Manage service disruptions, taking ownership of revising crew and traction plans to return to the booked schedule efficiently with minimal reactionary disruption to traincrew and maintenance plans as well as ensuring late costs are managed. Coordinate modified or emergency train plans with Network Rail and the Duty Control Manager. Proactively monitor GB Railfreight services, coordinating with Network Rail and customer representatives to investigate time losses and arrange corrective actions. Support the Performance Team by ensuring TRUST Delay Data for incident attribution is recorded accurately and ensuring reactionary delays are efficiently managed. Liaise with the Engineering/Fleet Control Team, contractors, and Network Rail during train failures or defects to minimise disruption and ensure customers are kept informed. We are looking for individuals with the following skills and qualities: Essential ⦁ 5 GCSEs (grades 9-4 or A-C equivalent) including Maths and English ⦁ Excellent IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft suite ⦁ Detail-oriented maintaining accuracy in all tasks. ⦁ Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure ⦁ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to build positive relationships with various stakeholders ⦁ Excellent customer service skills with a focus on customer satisfaction Desirable ⦁ Experience in railway planning or working within the rail industry ⦁ Good working knowledge of national railway geography ⦁ Experience within a Control environment Are you the right candidate?
