About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic food technology teacher to join our dynamic department within a thriving West London school. Curriculum Delivery: Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging and stimulating food technology lessons across the curriculum, catering to Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8) and potentially Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11) in line with the National Curriculum. Utilize a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure all students can develop their culinary skills effectively (food preparation, hygiene, safety, recipe interpretation, healthy eating principles). Integrate the science behind food and explore global cuisines to broaden student knowledge and appreciation. Curriculum Development: Contribute to the ongoing development of the food technology curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the school's vision, national requirements, and the latest advancements in food education (e.g., sustainable food practices, food technology innovations). Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in food technology pedagogy, implementing innovative approaches to enhance student learning (e.g., project-based learning, food challenges, guest chefs). Building Relationships: Build strong and positive relationships with students, fostering their confidence in the kitchen and encouraging them to experiment with flavors and techniques. Provide constructive feedback and support to enable students to reach their full potential (individualized learning plans, targeted intervention strategies). Cultivate a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages collaboration, creativity, and a sense of achievement. Extracurricular Activities: Contribute to and potentially lead extracurricular activities related to food (e.g., cooking clubs, healthy eating initiatives, school gardening projects). School Community: Actively participate in departmental and whole-school events, fostering a collaborative spirit and contributing to the wider school community.
