Senior Finance Manager
Reports to: Financial Controller

Job Type: Full-Time
Job Purpose:
To provide ownership of prompt and accurate month end financial reporting processes, and to support the Financial Controller in providing the Senior Leadership Team with relevant analysis of financial performance. To work with the Financial Controller to ensure the efficient and timely implementation and adoption of the new Oracle Net Suite application, and to develop ownership over Net Suite financial processes.
To oversee critical financial functions, including the management of balance sheet reconciliations, payroll, invoicing, and cash flow management. To ensure accuracy in all financial reporting and compliance with local and international regulations. To provide leadership, guidance, and support to the two Finance Managers, ensuring the accuracy and timely completion of financial tasks.
To act as a deputy for the Financial Controller during any prolonged absences, taking on key responsibilities to maintain continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
Month-End Management Reporting:
* Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, including completing all balance sheet reconciliations.
* Prepare month-end journals for tax, prepayments, accrued income, and accrued expenditure.
* Maintain Fixed Asset Register, recognising any additions or disposals and processing monthly depreciation journals.
* Lead the management of the monthly period close process, ensuring closure in an efficient manner within clear timelines.
Profit & Loss Investigation:
* Conduct first-level investigations of Profit and Loss (P&L) trends, providing month-on-month movement analysis.
* Provide commentary on actuals and budget variances for review.
* Work closely with Financial Controller to produce concise monthly commentary on financial performance.
Oracle Net Suite Implementation and Management:
* Complete all training and familiarisation with the new Oracle Net Suite application, with detailed reference to the personalisation and localisation of the application for Global’s own perspectives.
* Lead the ownership of all financial transactions and reconciliations within the Net Suite application.
* Consistently review ways to enhance the functionality of the application.
HMRC Compliance and Control:
* Take ownership of HMRC control accounts, ensuring correct liabilities are maintained for all payroll taxes.
* Prepare payment schedules for approval and settlement of liabilities.
Global VAT and Sales Tax Compliance:
* Provide leadership on global VAT exposure in the UK and sales taxes for foreign subsidiaries.
* Ensure timely preparation and submission of statutory tax returns for approval and settlement.
Global Payroll Management:
* Lead the global payroll process, coordinating with the global payroll provider (currently Papaya) to ensure accurate and timely payroll services across all subsidiaries.
* Ensure compliance with Appendix 5 foreign taxes and coordinate the recovery of foreign taxes from HMRC.
Revenue Invoicing Management:
* Oversee the revenue invoicing process by liaising with Project Directors relevant teams and Finance Managers to ensure customers are invoiced promptly and accurately each month.
Cash Flow Management:
* Maintain and update a rolling 13-week cash flow projection of income and expenditure.
* Review cash flow reports with the Financial Controller weekly for review with Senior Leadership Team.
Payment Processing:
* Compile the weekly payment schedule for review and approval by the Financial Controller.
* Load the approved payment schedule to global bank accounts for final authorisation as per the company’s delegation of authority.
Foreign Subsidiary Accounting:
* Ideally experience of working across multiple subsidiary operations, with the ability to quickly understand complex and different tax and financial reporting regulations across several European countries.
Audit Support:
* Serve as the first point of contact for the resolution of queries raised during external audits.
Team Leadership and Mentoring:
* Provide day-to-day leadership, advice, and mentoring to two Finance Managers.
* Approve tasks completed by Finance Managers where necessary.
* Deputise for the Financial Controller on day-to-day matters during any periods of prolonged absence.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Experience: Essential to have considerable proven experience in a similar senior finance role with specific focus on use of ERP financial applications, engagement and ability to work effectively with Director level non-financial leaders, a comprehensive and demonstrable grasp of technical accounting concepts and practical application and leadership of a small finance team. It is expected the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate at least 5 years’ experience in a similar senior finance role.
* Technical Skills: Proficient in ERP financial software (ideally Oracle Net Suite), advanced Excel skills, and understanding of global financial regulations.
* Leadership: Demonstrated experience in team leadership and mentoring.
* Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
* Education: To hold or a clearly evidenced commitment to be working towards a recognised Professional finance qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
