Job summary
Looking for something new & exciting in the NHS? Ever considered Prison healthcare? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Pharmacy Technician to join the Offender Health Care Group working at HMP Ranby Category C prison.
To provide information and advice to patients and colleagues about medication and processes where appropriate.
Main duties of the job
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be part of a highly motivated and skilled team who provide integrated healthcare (physical healthcare, mental health and substance misuse services).
You will support all aspects of the supply and distribution of medications, to ensure the safe, timely and accurate provision of medication to patients.
You will ensure that all medications are ordered, via the electronic prescribing on SystmOne.
You will be responsible for completing medication reconciliation for all new arrivals, complete ongoing medication optimisation support and reviews and take the lead on safe storage and use of medications.

The successful candidates will have a BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent. Hold a current professional registration as a Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council and evidence of up-to-date CPD portfolio.
You will be able to effectively work as part of a team, supporting all aspects of the supply and distribution of medications, to ensure the safe, timely and accurate provision of medication to patients.
Qualifications & Training
Essential
1. BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
2. Current Professional Registration as Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
3. Evidence of up-to-date CPD portfolio
4. Previous training in core technician roles eg labelling, dispensing, accuracy checking

1. Competency training and experience of eg stock management
2. Conflict Resolution
3. Manual Handling

5. Medicines Administration
Experience
Essential
1. Extensive experience of working in pharmacy
2. Evidence of Team working
3. Experience of accurate computer-based stock control
4. Clear understanding of the role of pharmacy technicians in prescription management
Desirable
1. Experience of working in secure environment secure hospital or prison
2. Previous experience of using SystmOne
3. Evidence of working in extended technician roles
4. Previous employment in a customer/patient facing role
