Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen due to the emerging nature of midwifery services in Manchester for one highly skilled and experienced midwife to join the leadership team in Saint Mary's as a Delivery Suite Coordinator at Saint Mary's Wythenshawe site.
Maternity services at Saint Mary's provide women living in Central Manchester, Wythenshawe, Trafford, Salford, the North West, and beyond with primary, secondary and tertiary obstetric services. Saint Mary's is renowned both regionally and nationally for its research, clinical fetal and maternal medicine services.
There is an established midwifery team delivering care to low and high-risk women and a multidisciplinary team comprising of obstetricians, midwives, anaesthetists, neonatologists, and physicians providing care to women with specialist fetal and maternal medical needs.
Main duties of the job
You will need to be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a driving passion and determination to support the senior midwifery team in line with the exciting national picture of care and compassion, as well as a local picture of quality improvement. You will need to have a good knowledge and skill base of both midwifery clinical practice and local leadership.
You will coordinate a team of midwives and develop practice as a midwifery expert; providing advice to colleagues in the organisation and working in partnership with a range of other agencies.
You will be resilient and able to manage complex situations as well as being well organised and innovative. A proven track record of supporting change processes, coupled with good influencing and negotiation skills are key attributes required for these posts in order to provide an integrated and effective service focusing on the delivery and assurance of safe, high-quality patient care across our services.
In this key role, you will work closely with both the Ward Managers, Intrapartum Matron, and the senior leadership team.
