If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our small Climate Change Team and provide crucial support in delivering our Green Agenda from decarbonisation to biodiversity projects. Working across the Council and wider Borough, you will be a key player in delivering the Council’s Climate, Air Quality and Biodiversity Strategies and supporting Action Plans and helping us progress towards our Net Zero targets. What you’ll be getting up to South Ribble declared a climate emergency in 2019 and is committed to work in this area, making climate and biodiversity corporate priorities. You will contribute to the development and delivery of the Council’s work around climate, air quality and biodiversity by; Supporting the delivery of corporate climate, air quality and biodiversity projects Supporting the preparation, submission and delivery of grant funded projects Supporting the Climate Emergency Task Group (a cross-party group of elected members championing the climate work of the Council) Supporting and collaborating with Officers across the Council to deliver climate related projects Helping to build our network of external partners and community groups Who we’re looking for The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent work-related experience in one or more of the key themes in climate, air quality and / or biodiversity and be keen to learn about the other areas. You will have strong organisational skills and be able to juggle a varied workload Experience of working in local government and with elected members would be advantageous Essential is the ability to work with a wide variety of different stakeholders from schools, community groups, businesses and general public as well as officers across different Council departments to support and affect behaviour change. Other requirements This role requires some travel around our boroughs. You should have a valid driving license or equivalent mobility.
