Job Summary
Are you an experienced surveyor seeking a role that offers autonomy, growth, and work-life balance? Altus Group has an exciting opportunity for a director level rating surveyor to join our dynamic Business Rates Team in Bristol. You’ll be assigned a patch covering one of the cities within the region of Swansea, Cardiff, Gloucester, Bristol, Exeter or Plymouth.
This is an ideal opportunity for a surveyor looking for an autonomous role. With the flexibility to manage your own caseload, you'll have the freedom to tailor your approach to each case, ensuring that you deliver the best possible outcomes for our clients.

Working alongside a collaborative team of graduates through to director level surveyors, this role is perfect for a motivated professional who values teamworking.
Our Bristol office works across a broad range of property types, with inspections supported by the wider team to minimise driving long distances. You’ll be empowered to make strategic decisions, backed by the latest technology and resources, to drive your success and career progression within the team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inspection and measurement of client properties (typically 2-3 times a month).
2. Draft floor plans, through use of our CAD program.
3. Manage client cases, formulating appeals.
4. Prepare assessment reports; report, analyse, investigate and gather evidence for business rates assessment appeals.
5. Keep company records and databases updated.
6. Communicate with clients, both written and verbally.
7. Deliver excellent service to clients ensuring strong and positive working relationships, effectively dealing with any issues or queries.
8. Achieve your team KPIs, whilst contributing to the overall success of the wider team and Altus Group.
Key Qualifications
9. Minimum of 2 years post APC experience in rating or landlord and tenant.
10. University degree – A Real Estate or property related degree would be beneficial but non-cognate degrees/ equivalent experience will be considered.
11. Full driving licence, with access to own car.
12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
13. Must be a team player.
14. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
15. The ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
16. A strong commercial awareness.
17. High attention to detail.
18. Excellent time management.
19. Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Excel, Word and CRM systems.
