Job Title: Research Administrator Assistant
Band: 2: £12.08
Hours Per week: 37.5 or part-time considered
Working Pattern: Mon-Fri 08:30-4:30 or 9-5 can agree some flexibility
End Date: 31st of March, 2025
Job Purpose:
The post holder will work as part of the clinical research team to support the safe conduct of research in accordance with the Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice guidelines and provide assurance that the rights, safety and well-being of trial participants are protected.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Assist the clinical research team in coordinating a portfolio of National Institute Health Research (NIHR) studies.
2. Participate in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training and ensure GCP compliance of self and team.
3. Support the team in ongoing study coordination including:
1. Conducting site file maintenance to ensure study essential documents are version controlled and maintained according to regulatory requirements.
2. Update quality systems to record study information and enrolled patients details.
3. Coordinate and prepare documents for patient visits.
4. Respond to patients/carers telephone calls (who may at times be distressed) tactfully and professionally.
5. Book trial specific investigations and procedures.
6. Welcome patients to clinic appointments and prepare refreshments if required.
7. Collect prescriptions or investigation results.
8. Assist in study close out procedures including:
1. Preparing study documents for archiving following archiving procedures.
2. Support internal audit and monitoring.
9. Document preparation.
10. Taking phone calls.
11. Booking appointments.
Communication/Relationship Skills:
Facilitate and maintain effective communication within Research & Development and across the areas where you have key working relationships. Maintain effective communication between the research team and patients tactfully and empathetically.
Skills:
1. Excellent organisational skills.
2. Working knowledge of Microsoft office packages (spreadsheets, databases, word processing and e-mail).
3. Ability to communicate with staff and patients.
4. Ability to prioritise workload to respond to changing demands.
5. Excellent telephone manner and written communication.
6. Understanding of the clinical research process including Good Clinical Practice.
