As the Site Sustainability Lead you will initiate and lead the internal energy/utility reduction & transition to net zero projects at Clitheroe to meet Johnson Matthey’s long term sustainability goals.
This role is envisaged to provide the communication conduit between the Clitheroe Site, including the Catalyst Technologies, Sector and Group Sustainability teams. The role requires the ability to prioritise and make sustainability recommendations to the senior team in order to guide and deliver decisions and organise actions.

Your responsibilities:
1. Accurate Reporting: Ensure precise reporting of the site's sustainability data, communicate trends versus a baseline into appropriate systems and forums (e.g., SLT).
2. Energy and Water Mapping: Deliver and maintain a site energy and water map to inform reporting and prioritize project improvement activities.
3. Utility Monitoring: Monitor and record utility savings and carbon reductions, linking them to the site's CI reporting process.
4. Sustainability Roadmap Execution: Develop, maintain, and lead the execution of the Clitheroe site sustainability roadmap in collaboration with sustainability, operational, and engineering teams.
5. Improvement Projects: Lead improvement projects for site utility management and reporting.
6. Site Strategy for Net Zero: Identify and deploy a coherent site strategy supporting JM net zero and sustainability targets, aligning with G52 Energy Management Group EHS guidance.
7. ISO 50001 Accreditation: Support the Group initiative for CT sites to achieve ISO 50001 accreditation.
8. Energy/Utility Reduction Projects: Identify and deploy energy/utility reduction and decarbonisation projects, forecast their expected benefits, set technical targets, measure outcomes, estimate costs, and deliver projects within the expected timeframe, integrating them into the CAPEX planning process.
9. Project Standards and Commissioning: Manage modifications and commissioning to ensure energy reduction projects meet required standards and sustainability requirements.
10. Sustainability Alignment and Communication: Align sustainability CAPEX and operational plans with site plans, maximize synergy and progress, resolve or escalate obstacles, communicate progress to stakeholders, and act as a sustainability champion for the site. Collaborate with the CT Operations Sustainability Lead Engineer and other specialists to leverage best practices and appropriate environmental accounting to support business cases.
Requirements for the role:
11. A degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
12. Significant experience in the process industry is essential.
13. Specialized knowledge of materials, process equipment, and plants is necessary.
14. Strong planning and organizing skills for project delivery are required.
15. Experience in leading the design, installation, and commissioning of new equipment or plant is essential.
16. Qualifications or suitable experience in applying sustainability practices to process industry operations, including energy efficiency, water saving, and greenhouse gas reduction, are required.
