Job Description We would like to add a new veterinary surgeon to our growing practice team - ideally with a minimum of one year's experience although we would consider less. The right candidate will truly care for our patients, be a good team player and be enthusiastic, proactive and motivated to provide a high quality first opinion service to our patients and clients. The Practice We are an independent small animal practice across two sites. Our flagship Hospital is an independent RCVS accredited small animal hospital, nurse training practice and gold cat friendly clinic which strives to provide the highest standards of first opinion care for our patients and clients. We have two theatres, a dental suite including dental radiography, in-house lab with IDEXX blood and urinalysis machines (including sedivue), an EPOC machine, DR x-ray, high quality ultrasound, video endoscope and laparoscope. Our purpose built standalone practice opened three years ago. Here we provide the same high standard of care, with only overnight inpatients being transferred to our hospital. Our Team We have eight vets with Advanced Practitioners in Anaesthesia, ECC and Medicine and a diplomat orthopaedic surgeon. We are fully supported by an experienced and dedicated front of house team. Our visiting Specialist vets in Soft Tissue Surgery, Cardiology and Diagnostic imaging allow us to provide an exceptional standard of care to all our patients and the opportunity to care for interesting and challenging cases. Our fantastic nursing team of eight RVNs and four SVNs is led by a DipAVN and includes ECC certificate holders. They are integral to the practice. As an employer we are committed to promoting and protecting the physical and mental health of all our staff. We have a very friendly and inclusive team right across the practice with vets, nurses and reception staff all supporting each other. We are looking for the right candidate to maintain and enhance this. We provide consistent support and the opportunity to improve and grow as a vet. Post-graduate qualifications are encouraged. Our vets enjoy a four day week plus two days off in lieu for working a weekend (Saturday and Sunday 8am – 5pm). Our rota is currently 1:8. We use a dedicated out of hours provider for on call, but our inpatients are cared for by our RVN team and the hospital is staffed 24/7. The vets share responsibility for the inpatients (1:8 nights). We value all our team and strive to provide both a good work life balance and real job satisfaction. We aim to reward our VS's with very competitive salaries depending on experience and further qualifications. Further support such as a seven weeks holiday, generous CPD budget, scheduled admin time, social club, trained mental health first aiders within the team, staff pet discounts, paid memberships and pension is included.
