About the role:

We are currently recruiting a Health and Safety Assistant to join the Health, Safety, Risk and Assurance team, based at our Doxford Park, Sunderland head office. This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for health and safety, who wants to further develop in this area. The role is to provide support to the Health, Safety, Risk and Assurance Team. It involves managing and analysing various data and statistics and generating associated reports. It also includes monitoring the progress of actions raised by the team, administering, and overseeing the issue and use of lone worker devices and assisting the Health and Safety Team in managing the hand-arm vibration monitoring programme. The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo. Key responsibilities will include the following, a full job description is available to view at • Collating data and statistics and generating management information reports for a range of measures, including: o accident and incident data o audit and inspection data o fire and building safety data o technical assurance data • Analysing data to identify trends and potential issues and discussing these with relevant members of the Health, Safety, Risk and Assurance Team. • Monitoring the progress of actions raised during audits, inspections, incident investigations and other assessments and liaising with relevant members of the team to ensure actions are closed and suitable evidence has been provided and is retained. • Managing the issue and use of lone worker devices across the Group, including following up on any “red alerts” raised by users, analysing usage data, generating and issuing monthly reports to each business area. • Working with the Health and Safety Advisors to manage the use of hand arm vibration monitoring devices across the Group, including analysing usage data, generating and issuing monthly reports to each business area and monitoring over exposure reports. • Administering meetings of the Group’s Health and Safety Committee, and other working groups overseen by the Health, Safety, Risk and Assurance Team, including scheduling the meetings, taking minutes, issuing actions and monitoring the progress against those actions.
What we are looking for:
Excellent demonstrable administration, planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a demanding workload. A track record in delivering objectives and driving improvements within deadlines and to agreed targets. Previous experience of collating and analysing statistics and report production, in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience in the effective management of health and safety, ideally (but not exclusively) in the housing or property management sectors is desirable. An IOSH Managing Safely qualification is desirable, but not essential. It is essential that you have a willingness and passion to develop your knowledge of health and safety management.
