Job Description
We are looking to recruit a Nurse to work as part of our Global Medical Assessments team in Esher. You be considered, you need to hold a valid NMC pin and have at least 3 years' clinical experience in the UK.
This presents an exceptional chance for nurses to transition from the rigors of a clinical setting to a UK office-based position, all while continuing to apply their invaluable nursing expertise. In this role, you will maintain your qualification and we offer CPD support. This is a Monday to Friday role, 35 hours per week with office hours between 8am and 6pm.
Working as part of the Healix Global Medical Assessments (GMA) team, you will be undertaking Health Assessment and Risk mitigating casework to meet the demands of Healix’s clients; review of all new and ongoing Assessment cases and provision of medical advice as necessary; liaison with the GMA co-ordinators to ensure clients receive the highest standard of service.
As part of the GMA Team, you will be responsible for prioritising and managing a caseload of clients; where you will assess each case taking into account the medical needs; local facilities and the proposed employment of the patient.
You will provide advice and recommendations for our clients on their Pre-employment health medical assessments, management referrals as well as Health surveillance. You will be involved in providing medical support and advice to the GMA co-ordinators enabling them to manage cases more effectively. You will have clear decision-making skills and demonstrate an advanced level of clinical knowledge yet recognise your limitations and seek advice/assistance where necessary.
You will contribute to the ongoing professional development programme providing education sessions as required within your area of expertise. You will contribute to the development of clinical audit, guidelines, protocols and policies as required
About The Role
Responsibilities
* Review of clients’ Pre-deployment health assessments against the geographical location they will be working in and formulate a risk assessment that their travel represents.
* Formulate a risk mitigating plan of care on behalf of our clients to enable their employees to manage their health conditions overseas.
* Review of medical reports and investigations with a view of formulating a medical opinion on the stability of those conditions and the risk these conditions may pose to an individual traveling overseas.
* Recognise potential medical conditions at risk from deterioration and ensure appropriate measures are in place to manage ongoing care.
* Work closely with the Healix Doctor and Operations Manager where complex medical history is present, using clear case escalation measures to manage high risk assessments.
* Recognise when workload becomes unmanageable and effectively utilise available resources to ensure continuity of case management
* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals or providers to manage the pre-employment, health assessment and screening process.
* Understand the legal requirements of the UK Access To Medical Records Act 1988, DPA 1998, and ensure that such requirements are always adhered to
* Provide simple non-diagnostic medical advice to an individual calling a medical helpline advice line
* Utilise your knowledge of the relationship between pre-existing medical conditions and their likely presentation requiring treatment to assist our clients in determining if an individual has made an accurate declaration where a claim for costs is received.
Person specification
* At least 3 years post registration experience gained in the UK as an NMC registered adult nurse
* Nursing experience in General Adult Health or Emergency Department
* Experience in insurance health screenings will be advantageous but not critical
* Strong critical analysis and logical thinking skills
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping
* Proven ability to adhere to strict timelines in delivering of objectives
* Proficiency in IT tools for documentation and communications
