Do you have a passion for helping vulnerable people enjoy as much fulfilment as they can and feel included in their community? If compassion, care and inclusiveness are an important part of who you are, our opportunities to work away from the routine in a demanding, challenging but emotionally rewarding role could be for you.
Our Turning Point Scotland Services in Dundee are looking for people like you to help provide individualised support to adults with a wide range of needs, either on an individual 1:1 basis or alongside others and as part of a team.
Turning Point Scotland‘s Dundee service provides support to individuals with a variety of support needs including learning disability, physical disability, autism, mental health illness and community justice. We provide supported living services, housing support and day opportunities to promote independence and choice to individuals in order to enable them to access everyday life experiences including access to education, employment and social activities. We will also provide support with developing relationships and maintaining a home. We work in partnership with service users, their families, health teams, social work teams and advocacy.
The support we provide is always person centred, involving people who know the person well, including family and friends, other health and social work professionals, advocacy services, and our own staff members.
No previous working experience is needed; full training will be provided to you. We believe having the right values of respect, compassion, inclusion and integrity is all you need to join our team! We would offer you full support in completing your application.
As a Relief Support Practitioner, you will work with individuals who have a wide range of support needs, providing them with practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives, such as keeping safe, engaging in meaningful activities, community involvement, physical health, relationships, and emotional health and wellbeing.
Please note that IT skills are required for all our vacancies.
Where applicable, successful candidates will be required to register with the SSSC within 6 months of start date.
Turning Point Scotland operates a List of Approved Relief Workers who may be contacted by services when there is a need to engage additional workers. Relief Workers are primarily deployed to cover periods of leave, sickness absence, and to provide additional support during peak activity.
When there is suitable work available, a manager will contact Relief Workers to offer them a shift or series of shifts. As a Relief Worker, you will be well-placed to fit your work around your existing commitments, and you will be under no pressure to accept work that does not suit you. However, once work is offered and accepted, there is an expectation that you will make every effort to attend that shift. Your reliability is very important to our services and to the people we support.
Relief Workers submit a Time Sheet to claim payment for the hours worked and are paid on a monthly basis. You will accrue some entitlement to paid holidays and will be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in the course of your work.
You will be required to undertake a programme of basic training primarily designed to enable you to operate safely and meet the organisation’s health & safety obligations.
