The NHSDigital Academy exists toresearch, design and deliver educational products, from two-hour online training courses to year-long Diplomas; learning frameworks to fellowships; board sessions to self-managed learning. These products help the NHS tobuy, build,implementand use technologyand data systems better.
Each product is researched, designed, tested, and iterated todeliver measurable valueto our learners – andultimately thepatients, colleagues, public and taxpayers we serve.
The Digital Training Performance Researcherwill lead on the metrics and measurements that support our activities both at the service and the product level.
We take a user-centred approach to learning product development and are looking for someone who understands howdata cansupporttheinitialdevelopment and ongoing iteration of learning products to improvedigitalskills within theNHSworkforce.
TheDigitalAcademyDigital Training Performance Researcherwill act as performance analyst for the service as a whole, reporting to ourLeadServiceDesignerand supporting them inensuringall academyproducts and the service as a whole delivers measurable impact.Workmayinclude:
• Developinga coherent approach to report and gain assurance of performance, to help us make informed decisions about next steps.
• Lead thedesign,developmentand implementation oftheAcademyperformancedashboardto enableusto monitor performance and improvement.
• Providesupport toAcademyproduct managers andtheirsuppliersindevelopingperformancemeasurement frameworksforlearning products.
This roleis a critical role for theAcademy as it helpsestablish,manageand develop the essential business processes and practices for solid, reliable information management and reporting.
The post-holder will be expected to engage proactively with colleagues within theNHSand NHSEnglandincludingsenior managers,educators,alumni groups,regional colleaguesand other significant stakeholdersacross the system.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

The job description and person specification may be reviewed on an ongoing basisin accordance withthe changing needs of theAcademyandthe Organisation, but will initially include:
• Engaging proactively withtheAcademy’sservice owner, service designer andcolleaguesto understand their requirements and toco-develop a measurement strategythat enablesthe Academyto effectivelymonitor, challenge and report performance of delivery ofour learning product sets.
• Development of a technical specification to deliver an automated solution to support benchmarking and the delivery of the integrated performance reporting framework.
• Own the creation and establishment of common product-level metrics to enable comparison and measurement of common quality metrics, e.g. ED&I consideration re: uptake.
• Leading in thedelivery and implementation ofperformance dashboards.
• Becoming the senior system manager for theAcademy’sperformance reporting solution and ensuring that policies and procedures exist to ensure that performance information is handled and usedin accordance withgovernance requirements.
• Lead the development of front-end reporting tools to supportlearner and educatorfeedback
• Develop and deliver training programmes and materials to supportcolleagues in understanding how we report on learning effectiveness and how to interpret product data to create actionable insights.the system.
• Develop and prioritise a programme of developments to ensureour reporting systemsremainresponsive to user requirements.
• Lead on the reporting aspects of new initiatives, interpreting guidance and proposing changes to business intelligence working practices and procedures.
• Act as a source ofexpertiseand knowledge on healthcare information relating to education and training performance metrics and information/analytical techniques.
• Establish quality assurance protocols to ensure the quality of data received and work collaboratively with colleagues to obtain data to agreed definitions and deadlines.
• Work with senior analytical leads in other directorates and regions to maximise efficiencies andidentifyareas for collaboration.
• Support theuser research operations team insetting up secure data repositories and in user data handling and synthesis.
• Contribute to the strategic planning of wider team projects.
• Contribute to the development of performance and business intelligence strategies.
