Occupational Health Technician
Based inCarlton, Barnsley, S71 3HF -The home of Mr Kipling
Salary - £28,000 - £30,000 per annum
Permanent, Full time (Hours can be flexible)
A full time, permanent opportunity has arisen at our Barnsley site for an Occupational Health Technician to join the team. You will be responsible for supporting the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team in the assessment of employee's fitness for employment and to perform health surveillance and health screening procedures.
The successful candidate will:
Perform health surveillance/screening procedures in line with standard protocols and procedures
Support the activities of the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Department
Instruct employees on completion of paperwork/forms
Identify opportunities for improvement in clinical procedures. Negotiate and agree the introduction of these procedures in association with the nursing personnel.
Take lead responsibility for the maintenance of stock levels of clinical consumables.
Following an appropriate period of training it will be expected that the Occupational Health Technician would perform the following health surveillance and screening measurements of:
Height
Weight
Blood pressure and pulse
Vision screening with Keystone or Snellen
Measurement of visual acuity utilising the Snellen charts
Colour vision with Ishihara plates
Lung function using spirometry and peak flow techniques
Hearing using audiometry
Balance/mobility
Urinalysis
Skin inspection and recording
What we need from you:
IT Literate
Good numerical and IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office.
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Ability to deal with a wide range of people verbally and in writing
Able to work on own initiative, work to tight deadlines and organise information well
Excellent time management skills
