Overview
We are seeking a subject matter expert to lead the specification, selection and transition to a new accounting system, ensuring smooth integration with and improvements to existing processes, compliance with regulations, and minimal disruption to the organisation's operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management:
Lead the end-to-end process of transitioning to the new accounting system. Develop a project timeline, ensuring milestones are met. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align system requirements with organisational goals.
2. System Specification:
Identify stakeholder wants and needs, identify processes requiring fixing and updating, build requirements list. Engage with finance, maintenance and support teams to understand any live or historical issues which may impact future system design and effectively collate and communicate Finance impacts to stakeholders. Make recommendations.
3. System Implementation:
Liaise with software vendors, IT support, and internal teams during system specification and setup. Oversee data migration, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial information. Customise the system to meet organisational needs, including chart of accounts and reporting structures.
4. Financial Operations:
Ensure the new system supports all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable (rent and sales ledger), fixed assets, timesheets, budgeting, forecasting and best practice in financial reporting and insight. Test and troubleshoot system performance pre- and post-go-live. Develop and document new processes and workflows.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as the key point of contact between finance, IT, and other departments. Conduct training sessions for finance and non-finance staff on the new system. Provide regular updates to senior management and other stakeholders.
6. Compliance and Audit:
Ensure the system complies with and facilitates RSH, CQC, FCA and financial regulations and reporting standards.
7. Continuous Improvement:
Gather feedback post-implementation to identify areas for improvement. Ensure ongoing system optimization and support.
Requirements
* Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting processes.
* Strong understanding of efficient and effective control systems.
* Experience in implementing accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or bespoke systems).
* Excellent project management skills, including planning, execution, and stakeholder engagement.
* Proficiency in data analysis and financial reporting.
* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
* Effective communication and training skills.
* A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA).
* Proven experience in managing accounting system changes or ERP implementations.
* Have recent practical experience in finance IT system design, improvement or management.
* Proficiency in using and configuring accounting software.
* Familiarity with financial regulations and standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* High attention to detail and accuracy.
* Willingness to work collaboratively across departments.
* Ability to confidently and clearly explain technical finance IT functionality and accounting requirements in plain English, both in writing and verbally.
* Prioritise demands and take ownership of workplans.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: £50,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
