We are absolutely thrilled to be working alongside our Award Winning Construction Manufacturing client as we look to recruit for an experienced Category Manager to join their Manufacturing Site in Hadleigh. This is a brand new role to the business, which will give you the opportunity to bring your own flare and talent to our client and to play a pivotal part in the future success of this specialist division.
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the primary purpose of this role is to organise, develop and drive the Special Products category product offering.
Your new role is responsible for liaising with existing and new suppliers, creating purchasing agreements, managing new product development, listing new products on the company ERP, organising all materials into categories & families and monthly reporting on product volumes.
This position is a critical function, assisting with & setting company strategy via new innovative product development, reviewing the existing bespoke manufacturing methods to help increase quality, decrease cost and improve new sustainable working & delivery methods. Working independently, use CRM to record and provide regular communication with colleagues across the wider business.
Your Key Responsibilities
1. Create and manage the product portfolio strategy.
2. Devise long-term development strategies for product categories.
3. Support the sales & technical teams with account management of suppliers, undertaking regular reviews of pricing and lean delivery methods.
4. Provide an insight on current market trends, supplier & customer analysis, and competitor positioning.
5. Provide extensive information relating to technical product performance and benchmarking, including pricing positioning.
6. Follow a “cradle-to-cradle” NPD management process including a reporting deck and pipeline.
7. Create value propositions in readiness for promoting to the marketplace and support communications campaigns.
8. Carry out portfolio management activity to ensure best fit of the product range to market needs and competitive environment, and efficient use of manufacturing capacity.
9. Determine customers' needs by specifying research, obtaining market information and carrying out regular personal visits to a variety of our target customers.
10. Bring new products to market in a swift & timely fashion.
11. Liaise with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category.
12. Work closely with internal stakeholders to bring the products to market or reengineer existing products.
13. Utilise and implement mission packs to sales, business development and technical teams.
14. Monitor post launch product performance.
15. Complete ownership & project management of all product related tasks.
Qualifications and Experience for Your New Role
1. Essential - Driving License
2. Essential – Experience of product management & purchasing
3. Essential – Good knowledge insulation products
4. Essential – Experience of technical specifications & sustainability criteria
5. Desirable - Educated to degree level or a related role specific qualification
6. Desirable – Understanding of branding, packaging and logistics
7. Desirable – Experience of trademarking
