We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant from September or sooner if available to join our Learning Support Team.
Allestree Woodlands School is a popular and successful 11-18 school, providing high quality education for 1420 students (200+ in the sixth form). The school is situated on the northern edge of the city of Derby in a very pleasant setting overlooking the Kedleston Hall National Trust estate. We work as a great team together and are committed to the continuing professional development of all colleagues. The successful candidate will join our committed and collaborative Learning Support Team in supporting SEND students across a variety of curriculum areas. The school takes pride in being inclusive as recognised by Ofsted in our most recent inspection.
The faculty assists students with a range of educational needs throughout school. We aim to meet the needs of students with general learning difficulties, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, deafness, visual impairment and social, emotional and mental health needs.
This post requires a person who understands the needs of SEND students within a secondary school setting. The ability to establish good working relationships with the students and staff is essential. Previous experience of working with SEND students is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will be well supported and have opportunities for continued professional development; we are looking for an individual with potential who is open to learning.
The Teaching Assistant position is either 0.8 or full time in term time. Full time hours are 32.5 hours per week for 39 weeks per year (term time). NJC Pay Scale 4 points 7 – 11 £25,584 - £27,269 (pro rata to days and hours worked £19,244 - £20,511 per year based on 32.5 hours per week).
