Working Conditions:
Normal office/Military base environment with regular exposure to offsite or outdoor events and activities. Medium work. Up to 25% travel.
General Summary:
The Center Operations Manager position is responsible for overseeing one or more USO Center’s operations, managing programs, events, and activities at locations surrounding the Center(s). This position also manages subordinate operational staff and volunteers, assists in evaluating and modifying existing programs, and plans and implements new or improved programs, events, and activities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Duties)
* Overall responsibility for providing visitors and guests with a Center that is effective, inviting, safe, clean, well-maintained, and ready for use. Responsible for ensuring that equipment is clean and well-functioning and for enforcing adherence to sanitary guidelines and food-handling regulations.
* Lead the planning, quality, and delivery of programs on and off U.S. military installations. Deliver services, equipment, and events within budget limits. Identify and implement operational and program improvements that achieve USO standards of excellence.
* Review program and service needs. Research and recommend new programs and services based on research.
* Implement and oversee suggested and/or required changes.
* Coach and mentor USO Center staff and oversee volunteers’ schedule, activities, recruitment, training, and recognition.
* Create, maintain, communicate, and enforce adherence to Standard Operating Procedures to inform Center’s procedures and activities.
* Perform and monitor financial activities, including creating and executing operating budget, sales and/or other income, and banking transactions.
* Prepare, review, and present reports, including financial, operational, and statistical reports.
* Responsible for communicating to internal and external parties about Center’s operations, programs, and activities.
* Develop and maintain working relationships with U.S. Military, local community leadership, partners, and donors.
* May be required to operate a USO or personal motor vehicle.
* Perform assigned duties in the absence of leadership, and other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
* High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
* 5+ years work experience in a business operations role, event management or marketing role, including 1+ years in a supervisory capacity.
* Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams.
* Proficiency using computers and electronics equipment, including Microsoft Office Suite.
* Fluency in English. Ability to speak, read and write in the language of the host country at the native level preferred.
* Strong interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
* Working knowledge of basic business and accounting functions including project management and budgeting.
* Demonstrated initiative/self-motivation, with the ability to adapt to changing organizational needs.
* Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations.
* Must be a strong advocate of the USO’s mission.

* This position is located at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, England. Preference will be given to local candidates within commuting distance of the location.
* This position requires candidates to be currently located in Lakenheath with sponsorship already in place.
* USO locations will adhere to local area and DOD guidelines regarding COVID-19 vaccination/testing requirements.
