This is a part-time role (3 days per week, possibly 4 if preferred) and is fully office based.
Job Description
The Payroll Officer (Part-time) role involves:
* Lead, manage, and develop the payroll to ensure accurate and efficient payroll service in compliance with statutory, national and local policies.
* Calculate and ensure timely payment of taxes to HMRC, including PAYE, NIC and relevant levies.
* Accurately calculate and deduct statutory and other payroll deductions, ensuring compliance with all payroll regulations.
* Maintain strong relationships with all pension providers, manage monthly pension processes and reporting, ensuring compliance with pension legislation.
* Prepare monthly payroll journals and accounts reconciliations for management reporting.
* Calculate monthly wages accrual for hourly paid staff.
* Provide payroll and pension data to external auditors for year-end audit.
* Report on headcount.
* P11D submissions, P45's and P60's.
* Ensuring employee records are maintained and up to date.
* Update and maintain policies, procedures, and practices to ensure legal compliance and best practice, including maintaining staff handbook.
* Manage payroll assistant.
* Ability to communicate with HMRC and handle queries that may arise.
* Ensure HR policies are kept up to date.
* Ensure HR compliance is continually reviewed and kept up to date.
* Advise on changes in payroll / HR legislation and the impact on the business.
* Monitor employee sick leave and ensure procedures are in place to minimise sick leave.
* Ad hoc tasks to assist the department.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Payroll Officer (Part-time) should have:
* Previous experience within Payroll.
* Experience with either ADP or Sage Payroll is desirable.
* Must live within a commutable distance as this is an office based role.
