The position will be based in our Glasgow office, providing IT support via WGM’s IT Service Management system as well as over the telephone and will run over a period of 30 months.
WGM (in partnership with QA Apprenticeships) have devised a programme of blended learning (split between on the job with mentoring/guidance from peers) as well as formalised training from QA Apprenticeships. Successful candidates may have the opportunity to progress to a full time role on completion of this programme.
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Assist the IT team to provide 1st line support to all staff across all WGM locations.
2. Learn to record all issues via the IT Service Desk.
3. Always provide excellent customer service – ensuring effective communication is maintained throughout.
4. Learn to manage staff changes ensuring you liaise with the appropriate business stakeholders in line with WGM’s “One Team” approach.
5. PC device management – manage the logistics involved in old device replacement & new device issue.
6. Software management – manage standard and non-standard software deployments including the evaluation process to add to WGM IT’s software estate.
7. Active Directory & other tracking/database maintenance – perform user detail changes when needed to maintain accuracy of this important resource.
8. Assist in WGM IT asset management ensuring accurate records are kept.
9. Learn Hardware and Software basic fault diagnosis, liaison with suppliers on fault resolution.
10. Peripheral item management - maintaining stock levels, issuing new items to staff and maintaining records.
11. Liaise with 3rd parties regarding old equipment disposal.
To be considered for this position you will be a recent school or college leaver with a passion to work within the IT sector and have at least 4 x Nat 5 including maths and English, due to the funding associated with the role, candidates applying for the position must be aged between 16-19 years of age and show a real passion to learn and develop your skillset.
