At University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP), we are the region’s Major Trauma Centre responsible for providing care across a wide spectrum: from within people’s homes and working with our voluntary sector partners in local communities to offering the most specialist hospital care available in our regional centre, such as immunology, cardiothoracic surgery, and kidney and bone marrow transplants. We care for 475,000 in our secondary care catchment population, with a wider peninsula population of almost 2,000,000 people who can access our specialist services.
Delivering our services through a number of key sites across Plymouth and the surrounding area:
* Mount Gould Hospital - 30 beds for general rehabilitation plus 15 beds for stroke rehabilitation patients and a discharge assessment unit with 10 beds available.
* South Hams Community Hospital - 15 beds.
* Tavistock Hospital - 13 beds. Urgent Treatment Centre and Minor Injuries Units at the Cumberland Centre in Devonport, central Plymouth, and minor injury units in Tavistock and Kingsbridge.
* Child Development Centre - Developmental services for young children.
* The Plymouth Dialysis Unit - State-of-the-art facilities for patients needing treatment for renal failure.
* Radiology Academy - The only purpose-built Radiology Academy in the world.
We are a teaching hospital in partnership with the University of Plymouth and working with Plymouth Marjon University. As host to the Joint Hospital Group South West (JHG(SW)), we have a tri-service staff of nearly 200 military doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals who are fully integrated within our facilities.

Job overview
We would like to recruit a qualified mammographer with demonstrable experience to join our team in Plymouth. This post is open to female applicants only.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate and maintain a high standard of imaging and communication skills within this busy unit. A proactive approach to maintaining CPD is expected. The workload will involve screening and symptomatic imaging, assessment, and one-stop clinics. Training in contrast-enhanced mammography will be necessary on appointment.

To provide a clinical mammography service with images of diagnostic quality in a timely and professional manner. To contribute to the overall smooth running of the Breast Imaging Department by taking responsibility for specific, delegated duties and identifying areas for improvement.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To undertake mammography examinations of diagnostic quality in the breast imaging department and on the mobile mammography screening unit.
2. To undertake digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) examinations.
3. To provide the Consultant Radiologist/Radiographer with x-ray guidance during breast interventional procedures.
4. To maintain competence in all breast x-ray examinations and interventional procedures.
5. To prepare and dispose of equipment safely following procedures in line with Trust Policy.
6. To ensure all clients attending for breast screening have a positive experience.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975.
Person specification
Qualifications
* BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
* UK Certificate of Competence in mammography or UK equivalent.
* State registered with Health Care Professions Council.
Knowledge & Experience
* Demonstrable experience as a radiographer/mammographer.
* Proven evidence of recent CPD.
Attitude & Aptitude
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Proven ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative.
