We are looking to recruit a Unit Administration Coordinator to work as part of a job share in our busy Ophthalmic Day Unit in the lovely town of Bexhill. This is a very demanding but fulfilling role; working daily with the public and members of the multi-disciplinary team. The applicant needs to be able to work in a changing environment.

Join us in our mission to deliver patient focused care within a modern progressive unit; encompassing pre-assessment, theatre and the admission/discharge lounge to provide the complete surgical pathway for the ophthalmic patient. Support the team in maintaining existing and developing new procedures.
Main duties of the job
The Unit Administration Coordinator works without direct supervision and provides a full range of clerical services to the unit to enable the efficient and appropriate use of resources and staffing:
1. Organises/updates clinics, and ensures all patient documentation is in place for clinic and surgical lists
2. Acts as first point of contact for patients and deals with enquiries
3. Makes appointments for patients
4. Do telephone pre-calls to patients for the upcoming surgical lists
5. Maintains and updates databases, information, audits, resources
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good general level of education including English and Maths
* NVQ level 3 in Administration or equivalent knowledge and experience
Experience
* Previous administration experience in NHS or other busy environment
* Management of patient records
* Management of stock within agreed budgets
* Previous experience of working in the NHS
