Octavius is a leading civil engineering organisation dedicated to delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Swindon, leading the commercial management of a variety of projects under the Wales & Western Stations and Buildings Work Contract for Control Period 7 (CP7). This framework, covering 2024 to 2029, includes maintenance and renewals of canopies, buildings, depots, platform structures, car parks, and subways. You'll be responsible for the financial and contractual performance of projects, ensuring successful project outcomes compliant with contractual terms and business plan commitments.
What you'll do:
* Oversee project financial performance, ensuring profit targets and efficiency savings are achieved.
* Administer change control processes and adhere to contractual timescales.
* Identify and manage risks and opportunities effectively.
* Deliver compliant procurement processes and manage the supply chain.
* Handle commercial queries and advise on legal matters, including disputes.
* Conduct internal and external audits as required.
* Manage subcontracts, including preparation and negotiation of claims and payments.
* Monitor project progress, conduct site visits, and maintain financial logs and forecasts.
* Prepare and attend monthly cost review meetings, identifying variations and actions.
* Ensure compliance with Octavius' and clients' assurance processes and legislative requirements.
* Manage or mentor team members.
* Build strong relationships with project teams, clients, and suppliers, fostering a culture of professionalism and collaboration.

You'll bring:
* Extensive success in a Senior Quantity Surveying role, working on multiple and large projects.
* Demonstrable experience of coaching, mentoring, and managing people.
* Experience in a civil engineering environment.
* NEC Contract Experience.
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Professional membership with RICS or CICES (desirable).
