The Facilities Operative position is an integral part of the Workplace Property team at the Newbury Data Centre. The individual selected for this role will become a key member of the security team, tasked with ensuring a professional, courteous, and responsive security presence. This role demands a high level of visibility and interaction, contributing significantly to the overall safety and security of the facility. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold the highest standards of security protocols, providing a reassuring presence for both staff and visitors.
You will efficiently manage and oversee access to the premises, ensuring that all entry points are secure. This includes thoroughly examining documentation and identification to verify the authenticity and authority of individuals seeking access to restricted areas. Your vigilance and attention to detail will be crucial in maintaining the security and integrity of the facility.
Teamwork and effective communication are essential components of this role. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure seamless security operations and will communicate clearly and professionally with staff and visitors. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work well under pressure, contributing to a cohesive and supportive team environment.
This is an onsite role at our Data Centre in Newbury. You’ll be working a 4 days on/4 days off rotating shift pattern. This is a permanent day shift role with the workings hours being 7am to 7pm.
What you’ll be doing
The role of Facilities Operative is a vital part of the business. You will provide a safe and secure environment for all staff and visitors to the Data Centre. This will include high visibility and high-profile foot patrols, emergency response to all security issues and incidents along with access and egress control, key control and CCTV monitoring.
About you
* Experience in a Security/Front of House role, following security protocols.
* Embrace new challenges with flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced team environment where meeting pressing deadlines is essential.
* Demonstrate proficient use of Microsoft programs, with a particular emphasis on Outlook, Word, and Excel. This includes the ability to efficiently manage emails, create and edit documents, and work with spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting.
* Maintain a flexible approach to work, demonstrating the ability to commit to a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern. This requires adaptability to varying work hours and the capacity to manage your time effectively to ensure consistent performance and reliability.
* Exhibit a welcoming and patient demeanour when interacting with staff and visitors. Your ability to provide a friendly and approachable presence will help create a positive and supportive environment.
* Demonstrate strong self-motivation and a proactive attitude, showcasing your ability to adapt and embrace new working procedures. Your willingness to learn and implement innovative practices will be essential in maintaining efficiency and contributing to the continuous improvement of the team and overall operations.
