Role:
As a key part of the Engineering Operations team, the Head of Engineering answers directly to the Director of Engineering Operations. In order to provide quantifiable value, this function is in charge of directing the strategy and implementation of automation solutions, making sure that they are in line with the business goals of the organisation and the demands of the client. Leading and guiding the automation engineering team in the creation of creative and useful automation solutions will be the key to success.
Responsibilities:
* Manage, coach, and lead the automation engineering team to produce time-bound, cost-effective projects that adhere to the highest quality standards.
* Make sure that completed projects fulfil or beyond client expectations, since this promotes general satisfaction and enduring relationships.
* Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams so they can create automation project solutions and make sure all criteria are satisfied.
* Create solutions that effectively satisfy client needs without adding needless features, complexity, or expense.
* Manage the creation, deployment, and optimisation of automated systems and procedures, including the design of mechanical components, controls systems, and PLC software.
* Create and uphold processes and procedures, making sure that engineering best practices and methodologies are applied.
* Encourage innovation and propel ongoing development by incorporating evolving technologies, industry trends, standards, and compliance measures into team practices.
* Throughout the commissioning phase, offer technical guidance and leadership on-site to guarantee prompt and smooth project handovers.
* Establish and preserve solid connections with internal and external stakeholders, such as clients, vendors, and subcontractors, and provide the Engineering Operations Director with updates and insights.

Requirements:
* Possess an established history of success in engineering management, especially with automation systems.
* Possess a solid foundation in controls systems design, project management, or both.
* Possess outstanding problem-solving, leadership, and communication abilities. Be able to explain technical subjects to audiences that are not technical.
* Be well-organised and passionate about promoting uniform procedures.
* Have a strong time management and planning ability, with the capacity to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines consistently.
* Be self-motivated, vivacious, forward-thinking, and hardworking, with a strategic mindset and a "can-do" attitude.
* Establish credibility by performing the role with honesty, discretion, and professionalism.
* Possess the ability to successfully interact with a variety of stakeholders both in writing and verbally.
* Have excellent planning and time management abilities, be able to efficiently prioritise tasks, and regularly fulfil deadlines.
