The University of Sheffield International College seeks a Chemistry tutor to join our Science Team and teach the Foundation Level Chemistry module. You will be responsible for teaching Chemistry, a Level 3 module, to groups of international students in both classroom and laboratory settings. Duties include marking assessments and providing feedback. Proficiency in IT skills related to teaching, including VLEs, is essential. The role may also involve acting as a module coordinator, leading the teaching team, carrying out Quality Assurance, updating teaching materials, and creating formative and summative assessments.
ABOUT THE ROLE
1. Teach Chemistry, a Level 3 module, to groups of international students in classroom and laboratory settings
2. Mark assessments and provide feedback to students
3. Competent in using IT skills related to teaching, including VLEs
4. Potentially act as module coordinator
5. Lead the teaching team and carry out Quality Assurance procedures
6. Ensure teaching materials are up to date
7. Create formative and summative assessments
ABOUT YOU
8. A degree in Chemistry or a related discipline. We would consider a loosely related discipline for a candidate with relevant teaching experience.
9. Experience of teaching Chemistry or a related discipline in UK Higher Education, Further Education or Sixth form.
10. Experience of assessment marking at a minimum of RQF level 3 or above (A-level/ Foundation level)
11. A flexible and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
12. Competence in teaching and administrative IT skills, using a Virtual Learning Environment (e.g. Blackboard)
