SSEN Transmission is looking for a skilled Electrical/Mechanical Fitter to support our maintenance and inspection program for the transmission network. This role offers the chance to work on critical infrastructure, ensuring network reliability while contributing to the growth of renewable energy.
You will
- Work on all maintenance aspects of our electricity switchgear and plant up to and including 400kV. Training and development will be on offer to get you fully authorized up to 400kV.
- Maintain power systems including, switchgear, transformers, busbars, and other associated equipment in a field-based capacity on plant up to 400kV.
- Maintain, inspect and defect repairs whilst assisting with construction works, ensuring best value for money.
- Ensure safety is your number one priority, ensuring that all operational works are carried out to the highest standards.
- Be required to participate in standby duties for faults work when authorisations have been gained. As we work in a regulated business, you'll hold a pivotal role in ensuring that our network complies with current and future regulatory rules.
Experience working on the electrical network, particularly with LV and HV plant maintenance, is preferred however not essential.
- Strong focus on safety, embracing our safety culture and following guidelines in all tasks whilst maintaining high customer standards.
- Energetic and adaptable attitude, able to adjust to evolving business and project demands.
- Ideally, experience working in HV with a Transmission (or similar) company, along with a City and Guilds Part 232, SVQ 3 Electrical apprenticeship, or SVQ Level 3 Mechanical apprenticeship.
- A full drivers licence and flexibility for possible overnight stays when out with local travelling distance.
- Holding SSE CAT 1,2,3 would be advantageous however applicants with a Mechanical background will also be considered with full training given to gain authorisations.
