Responsible for mainly driving the tractor, operating mechanical brushing and cleaning equipment, line marking and a range of skilled artificial surface and general duties in schools, universities, play areas, and other sports facilities both in the UK and Jersey.
Purpose of Post:
To undertake all the sports pitch maintenance. To undertake, either individually, or as a member of a team, a range of sports pitch based maintenance activities including the cutting of natural grass, brushing and cleaning of artificial surfaces and weed spraying. The ability to mark out using a line marker various pitches and games areas. Carrying out daily maintenance and safety checks on the allocated vehicle and equipment and reporting any defects. Ensuring trailers are attached safely and as instructed and comply with legal requirements. Reporting accidents and incidents as they occur. Maintaining records as required. Conduct all duties in a safe and proper manner, as defined in the Safe Working Practices, Risk Assessments and Specific Site Rules, that may apply when working away from the depot.

1. To manage: Responsible for managing their own workloads and time so that it is completed in a timely manner and to specification, this includes the correct choice of equipment and forward planning.
2. To advise: To keep our clients aware of what we are doing, why we are doing it and to make sure any issues that may arise are communicated to the office for effective resolve.
3. To produce: A quality environment based around a cost effective professional service.
Knowledge and Qualifications:
General horticultural or sports maintenance knowledge.
Ideal requirement (although we may be able to supplement knowledge with additional training).
* Driving licence (E)
* Experience on towing or B+E (D)
* Experience on driving a compact tractor and using various brushing/cleaning attachments.
Supported by 1 of the following skills / qualifications:
* PA1 & PA6 (E) or relevant experience.
Experience:
Knowledge of working in a similar sports maintenance environment or with relevant tractor driving experience.
Must be physically fit, able to walk, bend and lift bags, bins and other dumped items, load, unload and carry and hold equipment whilst undertaking work.
Ability to work on your own or as part of a team.
Required to be literate and numerate in order to complete work documentation and time sheets.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to undertake assessment of the risks when manoeuvring vehicles and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of the crew and public.
High degree of awareness needed of the dangers associated with working continually in schools and general public areas. Further training courses will be offered to develop individual skills and develop future career possibilities.
Work Location:
Varied, on the road and involves nights away, a minimum of 4 nights per month.
