Description About the role We are seeking a motivated and dynamic individual, to assist in the design and delivery of highway schemes. This will include scheme design, support of delivery and provision of technical services associated with managing, maintaining and improving the Highway Network. This is an interesting and wide-ranging role, where the successful candidates will play a part in the whole delivery processes from inception through to delivery. Some of the duties will include: Adhere to relevant health & safety legislation. Assist with scheme assessment and appraisal including organising site investigations, inspections and technical surveys. To work closely with the operational teams to co-ordinate ECI for scheme development to inform design solutions. Undertake and assist with detailed design of schemes (CAD) including, minor works, footway and drainage in accordance with current technical standards and regulatory requirements. Preparation and checking of technical reports/documents to include presentations and construction documentation. About you You will have or be working towards, Eng Tech, an HNC in Civil Engineering or another appropriate subject. A sound background in highways and environment is essential to enable the post holder to make decisions and provide guidance on associated issues. Working knowledge of drainage design and implementation would be advantageous. You should have demonstrable numerate, analytical and problem-solving skills. Good computing skills combined with the ability and experience of use of design software including CAD. You will be energetic and enthusiastic with good communication skills and will be comfortable working on your own with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
