Description:
Are you a law graduate looking to start a rewarding career? Eager to put your studies into practice? If the answer is yes, come and join our small, independent firm.
At a time when most firms are large, corporate environments, you may thrive in our small office where everyone’s opinion is welcome and listened to. Partners and Senior Fee Earners work closely with admin staff and trainees to create an inclusive atmosphere where you will feel free to ask questions and develop, learning first-hand from senior staff who have been practicing for years.
The role is primarily within our Wills and Probate department, where you will be helping families through difficult times and providing advice and guidance to clients who are planning for the future. This is an ambitious, growing department, and we are keen to appoint an individual who shares a passion for this area of the law as well as an enthusiasm to help grow our client base.
You will also be given the opportunity to work within our Conveyancing Department, which is well established within the local area. You would initially be expected to assist the existing Fee Earners in this Department but, eventually, would be given the chance to oversee your own sales files, re-mortgages, and Transfers of Equity, with supervision, that would allow you to develop your understanding in this area.
Daily tasks in your main role will include preparing Wills and other legal documentation, drafting correspondence to clients and third parties, and assisting with estate administration. However, the successful candidate will also have to be a key member of our small firm and be willing to perform some other general day-to-day tasks, such as maintaining files, assisting fee earners and solicitors with administration, and attending client meetings where required.
You will be expected to quickly build a strong understanding of Wills and Probate, as well as the Conveyancing process. At the same time, we expect you to develop your client-facing skills to ensure that you are well positioned to offer an excellent service to all our clients.
A good background knowledge of the Private Client area is desirable, but you must also be a compassionate and caring person with the ability to show empathy towards, and communicate with, the wide variety of clients that you will be representing.
As a member of a small firm, you will need to have an ‘all hands-on deck approach’ to work and be an excellent team player. Some days can be unpredictable, so you must show willingness to adapt to circumstances beyond your control and exhibit practical skills to solve problems as and when they arise.
For the right candidate, there will be ample opportunity for professional development and career progression.
The starting salary will be £23,000.00 per annum. You will have four weeks holiday plus Bank Holidays, as well as the days between Christmas and New Year, as the office closes during this time.
Further to the salary and holidays on offer, we pride ourselves on taking care of our staff and making sure that everyone feels valued, respected, and included. There will be opportunities to socialise, as we regularly look to organise staff outings, meals, and social occasions, which we feel helps to make staff feel more relaxed and confident in the office, which is the culture that we like to have.
Finally, we also offer free gym membership and private health cover as additional benefits.
