About the Opportunity
WeWork seeks an architectural designer with at least 4 years of experience for our London Design Studio. The architectural designer will aid in the creation of vibrant co-working environments, collaborative spaces, and special projects. The successful candidate will be involved in a rapid project schedule that requires organisation, tenacity, and the ability to work with others. Periodic travel may be required.
Responsibilities
1. Manage projects independently, including establishing own timelines, sticking to deadlines, and managing own workload.
2. Space Planning: For each project, identify and arrange the functional requirements, high-level programming, code analysis, and space planning. Produce all design and handoff packages using Revit, including programming, layout, AoR and GC handoff, and stakeholder-related deliverables.
3. Design Deliverables: Produce complete design packages, including interior design drawings, lighting strategy, joinery and FF&E specifications, technical drawings, and AoR and GC coordination.
4. Member’s Support: Manage the relationship and the design deliverables for Configured Member Projects throughout the presales process. Focus on producing and coordinating architectural test-fits to support management agreements, internal reprogramming requests, and sales requests, ensuring quality sign-offs by the Design Studio leadership.
5. Collaborate with the Design & Creative Director, and Design Manager at every design milestone to ensure comprehensive and executable design intent aligned with project briefs. Ensure that every design deliverable complies with WeWork’s quality assurance guidelines and standards for design, documentation, project management, cost, and local code.
6. Work closely with internal stakeholders and external consultants and suppliers to ensure the design and quality are executed as per specifications. Provide regular, timely updates on project progress and address concerns promptly and professionally.
7. Source new materials, fabrics, and FF&E suppliers.
8. Monitor costs to ensure projects are on budget.
9. Attend project and client meetings and site visits.
10. Portfolios must be submitted for consideration.
About You
11. Bachelors or Masters degree in architecture or interior design from an accredited university or equivalent practical experience.
12. 4+ years of professional design, construction, or operation in high-quality commercial or hospitality projects. Mixed-use residential, cultural, and institutional experiences also will be considered.
13. Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills, and the ability to articulate concepts and ideas to internal stakeholders and members.
14. Proficient in the following programs: BIM Revit (Essential), Enscape, Photoshop, all things Google, Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office.
15. Unparalleled design and space planning acumen.
16. Ability to analyse, interpret, and incorporate metrics and data into design solutions.
17. Knowledge of construction industry best practices, buildings, and accessibility codes
18. Exceptional at joinery design with a great understanding of critical FF&E principles and dimensions.
19. Having a good understanding of construction materials, a keen eye for finishes, and an ability to use colour combinations effectively.
20. Possessing good spatial perception and sensitivity towards lighting requirements in each space.
21. Passionate and curious about the built environment. Maintain a desire for knowledge about all aspects of what we do at WeWork and look for ways to contribute your knowledge and learn from others.
