Description The Consultant will be part of the UK Electrical Assurance team. The Assurance team’s brief is broad based and provides a solution-based service to assist our clients through every step of the product life cycle. Our engagement may commence at the early concept stage through regulatory market entry and technical requirements review through all stages of the product life cycle and services typically include design support, preparation for testing and certification, technical documentation review, design review, manufacturing and supply chain audits, failure and returns analysis, factory acceptance testing and end of life/sustainability services. Required skills and experience: Good IT literacy skills Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (written and verbal) Strong project management skills Relevant knowledge of electrical/electronic engineering design and manufacturing processes, regulatory and technical standards requirements, product testing and certification Proven Track record from similar background/industry Minimum of 5-7 years within a relevant industry sector Previous experience of the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) sector useful but not essential ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY Assurance is a service line and will build and execute a strategy for the delivery of services to grow and support the above sectors. The Consultant will form an integral part of the delivery of services and achieving, both personal and overall Consultancy annual sales targets and revenue expectations. The Consultant’s time is anticipated to be split as 60% revenue earning and 40% Business Development. The Consultant will support the Account Managers and wider sales team through customer facing field activities, trade shows, seminars and any other activity deemed necessary to promote our services. Key activities: To provide consultative, assurance services to end users, manufacturers (inc. OEM and ODM), importers, retailers, distributors, asset owners and operators. Consultation services will be primarily Electrical/Electronic engineering discipline based. Examples of these services may include design support and evaluation and compliance/regulatory requirement review To provide the technical lead in the delivery of client end to end projects and to manage from concept through to delivery of final report To research, develop and maintain key regulatory and product compliance information and requirements within the specific sector To work with the Head of Sales/Sales team to deliver client presentations and to support sales visits and conference calls To work with the wider Assurance team to ensure sufficient headcount, necessary competence and Quality System requirements and capital investment in equipment (including software and analysis tools) is made to deliver revenue from the orders secured To take the technical lead when preparing project proposals, quotations and major tenders for clients. To project manage delivery of Assurance projects that utilise internal resources and/or external subcontractors To advise clients of departures from compliance with regulatory and market entry requirements by means of early engagement at the concept/design stage To advise clients on resolution of findings following constructional review and/or testing and evaluation by a test laboratory To advise client and develop documents and evidence to support Technical File or similar submission To produce final evaluation reports detailing summary, project findings and advise next steps and recommendations To inspect installed equipment and systems to determine compliance and performance including fault investigation To work with colleagues overseas to build Intertek’s global Assurance offering including supply chain management services To work with colleagues in other Intertek divisions to incorporate and progress consultancy services to create value-add offering beyond those of Intertek’s competitors WHAT WE OFFER Join Intertek and become part of our global network of inspiring and entrepreneurial colleagues.
