Environmental Health Officer (P01419)
Job Introduction
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join our team. Managing a diverse caseload, you’ll immerse yourself in a supportive, collaborative atmosphere, encountering various industrial, commercial, and domestic settings. You will play a pivotal part in enforcing a broad spectrum of legislation while providing expert advice in line with both council policy and governmental directives.
Main Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will span a wide array of environmental protection areas, including but not limited to:
1. Statutory nuisance and public health investigations
2. Responding to licensing applications under the Licensing Act 2003
3. Leadership in contaminated land management
4. Oversight of private water supplies
5. Contributing to planning application assessments
6. Upholding obligations in environmental permitting and air quality management
The Ideal Candidate
Ideal candidates will exhibit a deep-seated passion for Environmental Health, coupled with a commitment to delivering customer-focused services. A positive mindset, coupled with a readiness to embrace innovative approaches, celebrate achievements, and persevere in ensuring compliance, is paramount. Your organisational prowess will prove invaluable in managing a diverse caseload, for which you will assume personal accountability.
Flexibility is key in this role, as occasional work outside regular office hours may be necessary to provide the best service to the residents of our Borough. A relevant Environmental Health qualification is essential, with additional technical qualifications—particularly in contaminated land or acoustics and noise control being advantageous.
Package Description
£39,382 - £50,972 per annum inclusive of outer fringe allowance (career grade)
37 hours per week (Hybrid Working)
