Applications are invited for a 1-year Senior Clinical Fellow post in Vascular Surgery at ENHT (Lister Hospital, Stevenage), the arterial centre for the Hertfordshire and West Essex Vascular Network. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the newly expanded vascular unit, where the arterial work of 3 hospitals will be undertaken on one site, the Lister Hospital. There will be 2 vascular theatres functioning Monday to Friday every day, plus additional out of hours operating. One of these theatres will be the new £11 million Hybrid theatre with the Philips Azurion system, enabling modern endovascular and open procedures to be performed in a theatre equipped with laminar flow and modern air exchange systems. The senior clinical fellow will be expected to help in theatre, outpatients, on-call activity and ward management. Of the major vascular case workload, the hospital will undertake approximately 100 AAA, 80 carotid endarterectomies, 150 lower leg bypasses, 60 major lower limb amputations and 250 arteriovenous fistula procedures per year. Post holders will be encouraged to participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, audits, presentations and teachings. Ideally the candidate will already have their MRCS and be aiming to increase their vascular operative exposure in preparation for higher surgical training. Candidates are expected to have some general surgery exposure already.
