About the role: Equine Shows and Events Steward Merrist Wood College are expanding our Equine Shows and Events team and are looking for a team member to join us on a casual basis as a Steward. You will support with the running of the equine shows, provide guidance and direction to competitors in warm up arena where you may have direct contact with horses. Merrist Wood Arena has an excellent reputation within the industry for running well organised, successful events and we attract all levels of rider from grass roots to professional. We run a number of events throughout the year, which include: Unaffiliated and Affiliated Show Jumping and dressage Clear round jumping and arena eventing competitions External clients hiring the venue for shows and demonstrations We have one of the largest indoor riding arenas compared to other colleges in the country and one of the top centres in the South East and have stabling for over 35 horses. We were also a pre-Olympic training venue for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Members of the Shows and Events team are involved in all aspects of running a successful show from set up of arenas, stewarding, writing for judges and clearing away at the end of the day. Other duties could include car parking and fire warden cover. The role is offered on a casual contract and will involve mainly weekend and evening work. What do you need to a successful Shows and Events Steward at Activate Learning? You will be confident in working around horses and have a good understanding of how to deal with the public, ideally from previous experience of working in a customer facing role. You should be an excellent team player and willing to work on all types of events - training will be provided.
