We are recruiting a Primary Teaching Assistant to work at a Pupil Referral Unit that caters for primary aged pupils that have been, or are at risk of being permanently excluded from mainstream education.
For this position, you MUST be able to drive.
This is a long-term position with the potential of becoming permanent for the right candidate. The school requires an immediate start.
Working hours: 8:30-16:20, Monday to Thursday and 08:30- 15:50 Fridays
Roles and responsibilities:
* Provide 1-1 & small group support to primary aged pupils with challenging behaviour, Trauma, SEMH & other learning difficulties
* Behaviour management.
* Support the teacher by helping to prepare and organise lesson materials & delivering these in the absence of the class teacher.
* Foster a positive and inclusive working environment to ensure the engagement of all pupils.
* Provide emotional support to students to help them feel safe and valued.
* Adhere to the school’s policies and procedures.
Requirements:
* Experience of working with children is essential.
* Experience of teaching Phonics is desirable.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* A Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is desirable.
* Have or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
* Be able to provide x2 satisfactory references.
