Contracts Manager – Regional D&B Construction Contractor
Salary: c£60k - £70k (Dependent on Experience)

My client is an East Midlands based independent construction contractor with longstanding customer relationships stretching back over two decades. These projects consist of New Builds and Refurbishments, primarily in the residential and commercial sectors, carried out on a Design & Build basis.

The Contracts Manager Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful Contracts Manager will strengthen the contracts team and manage the implementation and delivery of a wide variety of projects. Typical projects are valued from approximately £3m to £8m, based in the East Midlands, Yorkshire, and North West regions.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Build good relationships with the client and project team.
2. Ensure all aspects of the fit-out process are satisfactorily completed on time, within cost, and to the highest possible standards.
3. Carry out perfect delivery and produce snag-free jobs.
4. Run at least two contracts at one time – varying in values from £3m to £8m.
5. Liaise with construction teams, landlords, and clients.
6. Manage design control and coordination – directly liaise with designers.
7. Coordinate contractors/design against specifications and costs.
8. Have a clear understanding of standard work practices, relevant BS standards, and codes.
The Contracts Manager:
1. Previous large-scale commercial or residential project related experience, as per the values described above.
2. Ability to travel and understand the level of dedication needed to support the team.
3. Able to demonstrate real examples of strong customer-facing skills.
4. Client focus and positive attitude.
5. Able to manage multiple platform schemes nationally.
6. Ability to make robust and structured decisions under pressure.
7. Ability to fully interpret architect drawings and implement buildability solutions on the spot.
8. A key contributor to the team and high motivator.
9. Commercially aware to ensure business needs and clients align.
10. Programming experience (Microsoft / Asta).
11. Computer literate: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
