We are Rolls-Royce SMR and we’re doing something that’s never been done before. We’re revolutionising an industry. That’s a once-in-a-career opportunity for those excited by such a challenge. This is more than just a job; this is a legacy.
We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Electrical Systems Manager to be involved in an industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station.
You will provide technical leadership and expertise across the lifecycle of Electrical Systems for the SMR nuclear power plant. As a manager within the Electrical Systems’ team, you’ll develop and manage a team of electrical engineers, setting the work plan and delivering the agreed scope of work.
The Electrical team manages all aspects of the electrical system design across the SMR. For the agreed systems under your scope, the role covers the delivery of the complete design, spanning system architecture, sub-system design, and equipment specification and design/selection to realise the final verified design of the power station. You’ll need to develop relationships with and work closely with the engineering teams from across the power station, applying a structured systems engineering approach to design.
You will be accountable for the delivery of your team’s packages of work to time, cost, and quality requirements.
You will work with the broader EC&I team and other teams/disciplines to capture requirements, develop electrical power system models to support design options, present possible system designs, and capture the resulting design definition.
You will act as a responsible designer and intelligent customer, depending on the task you are working on.
You could manage contract partners for work they will be delivering.
You’ll be responsible for your team’s development, setting performance objectives and managing your team’s performance.
Confidence can sometimes hold us back from applying for a job. But we'll let you in on a secret: there's no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate. If you feel you meet 75% of the requirements for this role, we would love to hear from you.
Also, if you are considering a career move or a sector-jump, please get in touch; we welcome applications from people with transferable skills.
