They will also be expected to be competent in all general areas of the gastroenterology consistent with training and experience and to cover the work of their colleagues as appropriate. They will be expected to actively participate in educational activities including teaching, grand rounds, case presentations and audit. We will be supportive to help the candidate to pursue their clinical speciality interest within the provisions of service. We also supervise and mentor candidates who are planning to apply for CESR depending on their experience. The post will involve supervision of junior doctors in Gastroenterology. He/she will undertake general and speciality (IBD) gastroenterology outpatient clinics as well as administrative functions. The successful candidate is advised to participate in all the other ongoing activity of the department including regular endoscopy audits, and to attend various departmental teaching sessions and regional/national post graduate meetings. The successful candidate may be required to do on-call out of hours gastroenterology work (including in-reach to MAU and/or GI bleeding) with mutual agreement. This post is currently on a ten PA basis but additional PAs may be considered as per departments needs. To provide endoscopy and out-patient clinics for the gastroenterology service including urgent referrals for suspected cancer patients.
