Cost of Living Assistance Fund Officer - Fixed Term
Full time, 37 hours per week – 1 year contract
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, who is flexible and prepared to go the extra mile. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment of applications for a grant payment through the Councils Cost of Living Assistance Fund, as well as providing appropriate advice, support, or signposting to additional organisations and schemes to assist with the rising cost of living.
The successful candidate will have a “can-do” attitude to work. You will be able to organise and prioritise your workload to ensure that applications are decided in line with the grant policy and paid promptly, and that decisions are notified and recorded accordingly.
The successful candidate will understand the needs of residents seeking financial assistance through the scheme, and you will be able to assist customers with the application process, and communicate decisions in writing, over the telephone, or in a face-to-face environment.
You will be part of a busy team, but you will also need to demonstrate that you are confident to work with minimal supervision.
We will consider applications as they are received so early application is encouraged. This means the job advert may close earlier than the adverted closing date should a successful candidate be found.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council offer a wide range of benefits, including a generous leave entitlement, access to discounts at nationwide retailers through our ‘B Rewarded’ discount site, flexible working, healthcare cash plan, pension scheme and much more.
The council signs up to the Disability Confident scheme (formerly known as the ‘Two Ticks’ scheme). If you have declared a disability on the application form we can guarantee you an interview if you meet the essential criteria for the job.
