A rapidly expanding business requires the establishment of a BI function to ensure consistency in reporting and data definitions across the Group as it expands. This function will supply the business with innovative, relevant, and actionable reporting to support a data-driven decision-making culture throughout the Group. The BI Business Analyst will support the Business Intelligence team in developing its BI business requirements gathering and elicitation process, creating the artifacts needed to build the BI solutions, and supporting the business and stakeholders for their BI experience.
You’ll be responsible for:
1. Managing and liaising with business stakeholders, SMEs, and senior management.
2. Holding business workshops, stakeholder analysis, and working closely with PMO and BI Project Manager.
3. Developing and working with existing artifacts, ensuring all processes, business logic, transformation of logic, data definitions, and process mapping information are articulated into the BI artifacts.
4. Ensuring robust governance on all BI documentation with security processes adhered to.
5. Ensuring BI documentation does not allow for multiple versions of the truth reporting within the business.
6. Preparing As-Is and To-Be gap analysis, creating diagrams, and demonstrating benefits of To-Be model.
7. Working closely with the data governance team to ensure data governance principles underpin all business processes, changes, and new requests.
8. Ensuring BI requirements can be traced and tracked through the development process, and any changes are managed and reflected through all documentation.
9. Ensuring legacy report consolidation and governed decommissioning where appropriate.
10. Working closely with BI Delivery Analysts to ensure reports are used and remain fit for purpose.
11. Constructively challenging stakeholders' requests for BI and making alternative recommendations.
You’ll need to evidence the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
1. Experience of requirements gathering for complete end-to-end BI solution delivery.
2. Experience of requirements gathering particularly for the data warehouse build.
3. Ability to interpret data to provide insight and direction based on findings.
4. Experience of building logical data models is desired.
5. Knowledge of BI tools, such as Qlik, SSRS, Business Objects is desired.
6. Knowledge of Dimensional Modelling – Kimball methodology is desired.
7. Ability to rapidly understand business processes in detail.
8. Business/Numerical Honours degree or QBE or equivalent.
9. Effective communicator with good organisational and prioritising skills.
10. Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
11. Experience of presenting technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
12. Good understanding of BI development life cycle.
