We are seeking a Project Delivery Lead to continue to strengthen and develop the direct links between the Advanced Propulsion Centre and our project consortia.
The ideal candidate will be the project expert within the APC, developing a strong understanding of the project and organisations technical and commercial objectives; the deliverables and milestones required to achieve these objectives, and the risks and issues that may affect this delivery.
The Project Delivery Lead will also be involved with a variety of the key Automotive, mobility and associated supply chain companies based in the UK as well as working with funding delivery teams; to provide project support and ensure delivered success.
Principle Accountabilities:
Project Management and Relationship Building:
* Support and collaborate on high-value R&D & Capital projects, from bid phase to successful conclusion.
* Develop strong relationships with consortium partners and stakeholders.
* Network with key players in the automotive industry and academia, to increase your capability.
Advocacy and Leadership:
* Act as an advocate for successful technical and commercial project outcomes across all partner organisations into APC and wider stakeholder group.
* Attend regular formal and informal meetings with project partners, leading and presenting as needed.
Progress Reporting and Risk Management:
* Provide accurate reporting of project progress, including key success indicators and risk factors.
* Understand detailed financial forecasts, adding risk profile at project level for in year financial budget reporting.
Governance Support:
* Work closely with the Monitoring Service Provider provided by Innovate UK and other delivery partners to ensure effective governance activities, and clarity for the project.
* Work closely with the Department for Business and Trade responding to queries on your project portfolio.
Technology Understanding and Research Input:
* Develop an understanding of key technologies being developed during the project.
* Stay informed about innovations within this space and contribute research insights to the APC central team from your project partners.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
The successful candidate will ideally have some of the following areas of experience:
* Experience of project and/or account management.
* Engineering or Science Education to graduate level. Background in any of the following is beneficial, Energy Storage or on vehicle Energy Management, Electric Machines, Power Electronics, Automotive Engineering or Systems Engineering, Lightweight vehicle structures,
* Understanding of financial forecasting,
* Experience working with customer development teams on the launch of new automotive technologies and processes with either OEM’s or the supply chain.
* Experience of new product development cycles including understanding of TRL / MRL challenges; early stage research; working with academia and partners throughout the supply chain.
* Confidence working with and reporting to senior and executive level stakeholders.
* Comfortable with presenting to a variety of audiences.
* Understanding of government funding landscape, ability and willingness to develop awareness of EU state aid law.
* Interest in future technology and market trends and the ability to relate them to the UK Automotive industry and the opportunities this could create.
