Job Title: Coffee Roastery Assistant
Location: Small Batch Coffee Roasters, Brighton
Reports to: Head Roaster

Job Summary:
The Coffee Roastery Assistant supports the daily operations of the coffee roasting facility. This role involves assisting in packaging, quality control, and maintaining equipment to ensure efficient production and high-quality coffee. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, passionate about coffee, and eager to learn everything there is about coffee.
Key Responsibilities:
* Weigh, bag, and label roasted coffee accurately for distribution.
* Perform quality control checks, including cupping and sensory sessions
* Clean and maintain the roastery workspace, ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
* Assist with inventory management, including tracking green and roasted coffee stock levels.
* Support order fulfillment, including preparing wholesale and retail shipments.
* Engage with customers or visitors to the roastery, sharing knowledge about the coffee process when required.
* Training will be provided on roasting profiles and techniques as directed by the Head Roaster.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Passion for coffee
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle repetitive tasks.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Basic knowledge of coffee roasting or previous experience in a coffee-related role is a plus.
* Good physical stamina—able to lift 25kg (55 lbs) coffee bags and stand for long periods.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to follow procedures accurately.
* Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
* Driving license preferable
* Preferred Experience:
* Experience working in a coffee shop, roastery, or food production environment.
* Familiarity with roasting equipment, grinders, and packaging machines.
* Basic knowledge of coffee brewing methods and flavour profiling.
