About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Construction and Commercial Director to lead Churchill’s construction programme across the Eastern region.
Your role is to maximise the effectiveness of the commercial function on our construction activities, including quantity surveying, estimating, procurement and material buying. You will lead our 3-year build programme, ensuring projects are delivered on time and budget, to the highest quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
4. Driving clear strategy on operational delivery across both the commercial and construction functions.
5. Preparing construction budgets, project plans and schedules.
6. Monitoring costs and progress made, producing timely reports.
7. Leading and motivating the team to achieve the budget set for each project, whilst also ensuring all policies, procedures and compliance requirements are adhered to.
8. Providing advice and guidance, sharing your knowledge and experience to support the team and individual Colleagues to achieve their professional goals.
You will make important decisions on a daily basis in order to maintain the smooth efficient running of the department, as well as having considerable financial responsibility through preparation of annual financial and operational forecasts and budgets.

Hours of work are 9.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00 to 5.00pm on Friday, with one hour for lunch.
About you
We are looking for someone with proven experience at a senior level within the housebuilding industry from either Commercial or Construction functions. You’ll have expert knowledge of commercial activities including surveying, estimating and procurement.
You’ll hold an appropriate construction, surveying or technical degree (HND minimum), along with detailed knowledge and understanding of current building regulations, construction methods and products.
Knowledge of Modern Methods of Construction, Construction Law and Health & Safety regulations is highly desirable but not essential. We’d love it if you had previous house building and contracting experience.
Our ideal Construction & Commercial Director will be decisive, organised and methodical, with strong communication skills and an abundance of initiative. You’ll be confident preparing and presenting reports, highly numerical with a good understanding of Excel.
To be successful in the role you will also be an effective communicator with excellent leadership skills to influence and challenge at all levels, whilst inspiring and developing the team to engage and deliver profitable results.
