The Role
You will be expected to support the business to increase sales and revenue by working closely with the sales teams and customers to optimise cash collection.
The successful candidate should be driven to reduce DSOs through building strong relationships with customers and working with the sales organisation to minimise business exposure to risk, thereby reducing aged and bad debt.
Key Responsibilities;
• Manage credit control for a portfolio of 2,000 customer accounts (portfolio value >£10m) across 6+ sales locations.
• Post and allocate cash to customer accounts.
• Ensure timely follow-up on outstanding accounts via telephone, email, or letter in line with agreed schedules.
• Conduct monthly sales ledger reviews for your portfolio.
• Prepare and complete monthly credit control reports.
• Investigate and resolve customer invoice queries promptly, working with sales teams as needed.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and colleagues to resolve payment issues.
• Evaluate new credit requests and review customer credit ratings using credit risk management tools.
• Handle unallocated funds and manage accounts under liquidation processes efficiently.
• Provide cover for other credit control team members as required.
• Meet KPIs set by your line manager.
Credit Controller - What we need from you
Key Skills & Experience;
• Experience in a credit control or similar customer-facing role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Ability to reconcile complex accounts and interpret data analytically.
• Knowledge of legal debt recovery processes and managing liquidation cases.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent organisational skills.
• A professional, approachable demeanor and the ability to prioritise tasks.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
