Why This Role Matters
As the Technical Manager, you’ll be the bridge between suppliers and operational excellence. You’ll oversee everything from Carbon Auditing to quality sampling, managing storage programs, and supporting innovation through trials and projects.
This isn’t just a tick-the-box role. It’s about finding the balance between technical management and commercial needs, working with suppliers and internal teams to deliver exceptional results.
What You’ll Be Doing
Accountabilities
* Managing Carbon Auditing for suppliers and ensuring compliance with sustainability standards.
* Overseeing trials and reporting on their outcomes.
* Ensuring supplier compliance with accreditations required by fresh and processing customers.
* Managing 3rd party storage programs for fresh and processing crops, including intake, quality, temperature regimes, sprout suppression, and trial work.
* Conducting quality sampling and reporting for fresh and processing crops (ex-field and ex-store).
* Assisting the Head of Farming with internal accreditation audits.
* Sourcing, managing, and coordinating seed supply for contracted suppliers.
* Aligning supplier and crop management with the commercial needs of their sites.
* Uphold quality, food safety, and hygiene standards in line with legislation, BRC, and customer requirements.
* Demonstrate zero tolerance for non-compliance and support investigations into quality issues.
About You
You’ll need to be methodical, analytical, and collaborative. This is a role for someone who can:
* Communicate effectively across all levels, from suppliers to senior managers.
* Navigate the technical challenges of storage, compliance, and supplier management.
* Balance commercial priorities with technical requirements, always striving for innovation and improvement.
A background in food production or agriculture is essential. Experience within fresh or processed crops would be a significant advantage.
